Worthington Tree Farm, choose and cut Christmas trees

Hampton, Georgia

About the Farm

Earl & Esther Worthington

Since 1970, Earl and Esther Worthington and their children have grown and sold premium Christmas trees on their 20-acre farm. The farm was the first in the Atlanta area to offer Christmas trees on a “choose & cut” farm. Choosing and cutting their own special tree from Worthington Tree Farm is a family tradition for families all over Atlanta and the Southeast. The year round hard work of planting and maintaining the trees is well compensated by the joy and excitement of seeing families as they choose their special tree that will become the centerpiece of their holiday decorations in the home. The Virginia pines were the first trees planted and are still a part of the many trees growing on the farm. The Worthington’s later broadened the choices by adding White Pine, four varieties of Leyland Cypress, Carolina Sapphire and a few Red Cedar. Fresh-cut Fraser Fir are also available at the farm from a quality grower in North Carolina.

In recent years, Earl has begun to experiment with growing Fir trees by grafting fir onto rootstock that will grow in the hot weather and compact clay soil of Georgia. He has had good success and you can see these trees growing at the farm – but they are not quite ready for cutting yet.

Visit Oma’s Gourd Haus, a craft and gift barn where there are many hand crafted items and one-of-a kind gifts. A special focus is decorations and gift items crafted from gourds. Fresh wreaths from fir greenery as well as from a variety of greenery on our farm and Fraser and white pine garland are sold in the Gourd Haus. Special orders are accepted for those who need larger number of wreaths.
